Welcome to Ohana Animal Home, a safe lifetime haven for animals who have been abandoned, injured, sick, abused and neglected.
For years we have been helping and rescuing animals of different species.
In 2015 we started helping street cats, and through these years we have helped and rescued many ill, injured and senior cats.
The majority of these rescued cats couldn’t be given up for adoption because of their illness, injuries, frequent veterinary visits, or simply because they weren’t sociable. This made us start building up a safe forever home for these cats, and together with all the other rescued animals we were already looking after (birds, dog and guinea pigs), Ohana Animal Home was founded.

How everything started
We had been rescuing animals in need for three decades when in 2015 we moved to a new town and started looking after a small cat family, a mum and three kittens. A few weeks later we started looking after another colony made up of three recently abandoned cats. In just a few months we were looking after six cat colonies. We needed to make sure that these cats were properly looked after, and that implied feeding, spaying and neutering and veterinary care.
Through the years we have taken out of the streets and under our direct care some animals who could not continue roaming the town. We have rescued abandoned cats, old cats needing specialised care (food, veterinary care, medication), poisoned, injured and chronically ill cats who needed veterinary care and medication and could not get back to the streets, and abused and neglected cats.
Many of these cats need forever homes but cannot be adopted because of their illnesses, continuous veterinary visits, or their feral character. That’s why we started creating a home for them, where they can get unconditional love. A safe haven where they can live their lives receiving all the care they need.
Our priority
To provide a safe, loving forever home for animals in need.
We have rescued and rehabilitated animals who were sick, injured, abused, and broken and have given them a safe caring place to heal.
Over the years we have acquired a vast knowledge about the emotional and health care of animals, especially cats. We have nursed back to health animals who would have been euthanized without getting the opportunity to prove them wrong.
Now we look after over 80 animals. Some have suffered at the hands of humans, being mutilated, poisoned or abandoned. Some have had life threatening illnesses. Some are old, some are young, but all of them are now safe and surrounded by love.
They are our inspiration. They give us the strength to carry on fighting for them. What we get from them is far greater than anything we can give them, and we hope you can feel that energy too.
